New 4 Minute Stick Penalty Implemented For 2010
MONDAY, APRIL 05, 2010 12:00

The Canadian Ball Hockey Association has announced a new 4 minute stick penalty for 2010 that will replace the Double Minor stick infraction for Slashing, High Sticking, Cross Crosschecking in all Men'e Leagues across Canada.

This rule has been implemented the last 2 years at Nationals and Westerns and has been tweaked a little to refine the rule for league play.

Basic guidelines are as follows:

  • The penalized player must serve all four minutes of the penalty.
  • The team with the man advantage can only score one power play goal.
  • If a power play goal is scored the short handed team will now place a substitute player on the playing surface so they can play at even strength.
  • The offending player serving the penalty will remain in the penalty box until the first whistle after his time expires (similar to a misconduct penalty).

For a full explaination of the rule and how it will work with multiple penalties please click here to download the entire document.
